Common name: Pink- necked Green Pigeon
Binomial name: Treron vernans
Description: A frugivore medium- sized 30cm pigeon. The adult male has a grey head, pinkish neck and upper breast, with green back and wings. The adult female has mostly green plumage, with mild yellow tones.
Call: Not particularly vocal, makes whistling calls, sometimes ending with a coo. The treron genus is unusual in the pigeon family for not having cooing calls.
Diet: Fruits, particularly figs; less commonly shoots, buds and seeds
Habitat: Open environments, edges of forests

Fun facts: The species is thought to be one of those responsible for helping the return of many of the Ficus fig species to the islands of Krakatoa after the obliteration of the original island in a volcanic eruption.
